Zometool Bucky Ball- art and science at play

Discover the most exciting molecule known to mankind! Named after R. Buckminster Fuller, inventor of the geodesic dome, "BuckyBall" is the nickname for a Carbon 60 molecule. Like the faces of a soccer ball, it has 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons. A great science project, BuckyBalls promise an amazing future -- superconductors, drugs, batteries, solar cells -- even super lubrication. Build your own BuckyBall using the 150 Zome pieces and step-by-step instructions included in this kit.

The Review by Mom Does Reviews
"My son is a hardcore LEGO fan. He has thousands of pieces scattered around the house. He does have a few masterpieces that he hasn't taken apart. For the most part, he likes to be creative and build his own creations. He was very excited to get the Buckyball. It has 150 pieces and instructions. He immediately opened it and got to work. He made the mistake of not following all the directions, so he got frustrated and stopped. We took it apart and he successfully put it together the next day. He really enjoyed the change of pace from LEGOs. Not only did he show me how different molecules and compounds look, but he almost learned about Bukminster Fuller. The Buckyball was named after Buckminster Fuller because he invented the Geodesic Dome. We spent about 30 minutes reading about Buckyminster online and then drawing some domes that he took to school. Justin wanted to bring his BuckyBall in to school but we were afraid it would come apart and he would lose pieces. I highly recommend this great construction toy! It not only gets kids thinking, but they end up learning about domes and science too. This would make a great Christmas present for kids ages 6 to 12."
