Guidelines To Baby Communication

Thursday, August 30, 2012
It hit me like a brick wall. My son is experiencing issues with his speech. That was the bottom line of his last doctor's appointment. Nothing else really mattered to tell you he truth. Being told that, at 18 months, your son is not anywhere close to uttering words like he should be is shocking. Heartbreaking. Even though I know deep down inside that I shouldn't jump to conclusions nor drive myself overboard before having all the facts in front of me, my little mama heart is still devastated by the fact that my son is not "normal". At least that's how the doctor kindly presented it. My greatest hope right now lays on the fact that a trouble with his hearing could be to blame, therefore causing my son to have difficulty perceiving noises and sounds as clearly as he should be. He would encounter difficulties recreating the words he hears due to the fact that everything he does hear sound muffle. Now what if his hearing is perfectly fine? What else could be the cause of this impairment? Well, it pretty much boils down to two possibilities: he either has a complication with speech, which would eventually require the intervention of a speech specialist, or he's just slow. Lovely. I do not want to think that far ahead though. I will stay positive, at least for now. One step at a time...

Putting An End To Toddler Biting

Tuesday, August 21, 2012
Biting is any parent's nightmare. It has a way of making parents severely doubt their own parenting skills. Not to mention the very little (more like nonexistent) pride one will encounter towards its offspring! When I first caught my son biting I was speechless. A lot of denial came rushing through me. I couldn't wrap my head around the question of how this came about. I incessantly asked myself how he could have possibly learned about biting! Never ever did myself or his father show him such a gesture. I didn't want my little boy to be labeled a bad kid because of this chomping business!

Closed - "Brush With Jackson" App Review & Giveaway - Worldwide

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

I believe it would be safe to say that being a parent translates into wanting the best for our children. We want them to pick up on good habits, starting with dental hygiene. Knowing how tooth brushing is not favored amongst kids, we can only hope they adopt the habit with ease and with a tad of enthusiasm (a mother has the right to dream about the enthusiasm part!). We figure that the earlier we push the habit on them, the better chances of success. But truth is, occasionally our efforts turn into dust, leaving us asking ourselves what to do next in order to get our little ones to cooperate at tooth brushing time. Now how about if you had a bit help? Meet Jackson. He is here to turn tooth brushing time into fun time!

The Magic Of A Book

Friday, August 10, 2012
Reading, reading, reading. That is what my 17-month-old swears by nowadays. This book, that book, all books! He literally smothers himself in the imaginary world his books have to offer him. Even though he doesn't precisely speak fluent English (he solely masters the baby blabber language for now!) or read, he manages to turn a story into hours of pure personal bliss.

Wednesday, August 1, 2012

Day after day, parents all over the world try by any means possible to ensure their children are safe and protected, especially when it comes to playtime. As much as we trust our kids, we still can't help but worry about their safety and well-being. A study has shown that the age group with the most injuries resulting from driveway-related accidents was the 5 to 10 years old. It's no surprise when you think that these ages are the ones where children start to slowly become more independent, making our job as parents harder when it comes to watching them. After all, accidents happen so quickly, right? The Stop-It! multi-purpose net is there to lend you a helping hand in making recreation time a little less worrisome for you and a little more safe for your youngsters.
