Oftentimes, we come across children books relating to fairytales, funny cartoons on a wacky adventure or even bedtime stories with tiny adorable animals helping our tots doze their way into dreamland. Seldom though do we see books enlightening children on the subject of food, let alone vegetables. "Going On A Veggie Hunt" has a fantastic concept... introducing children to vegetables, their origin and usage!
A little boy and a little girl embark on a journey to find the right vegetables for Old Man Vine's soup. Along their interactive adventure, they will learn to discover and identify all the various veggies growing in the Old Man Vine's backyard garden. But their quest is suddenly interrupted by an intruder. Will they be able to get passed this obstacle and return home with all the precious ingredients to concoct their yummy meal?
Spread on a 20-pages story, this book has a cute and fun approach to the introduction of vegetables to the little ones. Conjointly with colorful, full page drawings, it teaches children in a simple, yet very interactive manner, about some vegetables, what they look like and how they are harvested. Erin, author of the book, has used a very neat, and amusing way to present the topic to children and has turned it into an extremely inviting and upbeat story. The easy to follow and intriguing storyline will build great interest in the little readers and is fantastic for them to have a great time discovering the world of vegetables. A true and exciting veggie hunt!
