Closed - "Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns About Bullies" Children Book Review & Giveaway - USA & Canada

Sunday, June 3, 2012

Beyond question, bullying is a hot topic in our society right now. And for good reasons. It seems to be an ever so growing obstacle our society is faced with and resolutions do not seem to come fast enough, unfortunately. Thus the reason this book review and giveaway hits home in a peculiar way. I have never quite been a true victim of bullying, but my boyfriend has. Mind you, I have never been part of the "popular ones" either. I have never been the "most-liked". I was the quiet and studious type, which made me different. By its own nature, being different makes you an outcast. Period.

Oftentimes, we come across children books relating to fairytales, funny cartoons on a wacky adventure or even bedtime stories with tiny adorable animals helping our tots doze their way into dreamland. Seldom though do we see books enlightening children on the subject of food, let alone vegetables. "Going On A Veggie Hunt" has a fantastic concept... introducing children to vegetables, their origin and usage!

When I first found out about this book, I was beyond curious. What could a book entitled "Bad Mommy" be about? What could it possibly pertain to and what point might it tackle? My gut feeling was telling me this book was loaded with potential. I knew a hoard of mommies out there who needed to know of the existence of this book. Thus, I wanted to share it with my readers. Then, when Willow Yamauchi, author of "Bad Mommy", accepted my book review offer, I was over the moon! Before I embarked on the reviewing journey though, Willow warned me on the edginess of the book. I enjoy edginess. If it isn't sugarcoated, the better. Tell it how it is, that's how I roll. And once I had read her guest post for S.O.S. Mom, way before even starting to read her book, I knew what she meant. I knew I was in it for a treat!

Laila Heloua was born in Alexandria, Egypt, and immigrated to Canada when she was 2 years-old. After studying communication and linguistics, she worked in a company before opening her own company specializing in event planning. Then she helped found the “Club Des Mordus Du Chocolat”. This journey lead her to a passion for food, passion she has at heart to pass on to children.

As an S.O.S. Mom collaborator, Laila will be offering you various children book reviews accompanied by giveaways. There is no doubt in my mind that she will be bringing you the best for your children of all ages! She is unequivocally a great author with amazing talent and an overall warm and charming personality. Author Willow Yamauchi - Guest Post With Upcoming Book Review & Giveaway

Saturday, April 28, 2012
I was breaking my head looking for ways to introduce you to this special gal... and then I gave up! To tell you truth, there is no way! She's a mommy with spirit. With edge and wit that will grasp your attention right from the get-go. She has charisma and, I must warn you, a touch of bluntness... yet without crossing that offensive line. She tells it how it is. And it's refreshing!

Author Jess C. Scott - Guest Post With Upcoming Book Review & Giveaway

Sunday, April 22, 2012
The following is a guest post by author Jess C. Scott. Her latest book, The Other Side of Life, tells the story of a thieving duo who’s world turns upside down when an Elven rogue uncovers the heinous dealings of a megacorporation. The genre of this book is a mixed of urban fantasy, cyberpunk and YA with adult crossover appeal. It is recommended for adults or young adults seeking cyberpunk themes (not hardcore sci-fi), and a love story (not fluffy romance).

I will be offering a book review and giveaway from May 15th until May 30th. Write it down in your calendars and make sure you check back in during those dates to get in on the action! All the details will be announced then! In the meantime, you can read Jess C. Scott's guest post and get to know her a little better!
