Reading, reading, reading. That is what my 17-month-old swears by nowadays. This book, that book, all books! He literally smothers himself in the imaginary world his books have to offer him. Even though he doesn't precisely speak fluent English (he solely masters the baby blabber language for now!) or read, he manages to turn a story into hours of pure personal bliss.

Part of being in love is the bonding, making sure your couple connects.
Whether it be by practicing your favourite activity together, or spending quality time, it usually comes down to something you both enjoy and that takes your mind off the daily routine.
Something that brings your couple to centre stage, puts the spotlight on it and makes your love the star.

Alright, I know, I am a tad late on the news about my son's first birthday party. I've been so busy eating the leftover birthday cake all week, I lost track of time! So, we had the party last Sunday, on the day of my son's birthday... February 26th. I am still in shock that my baby is a year of age! Where did the time go, seriously?!? Anyhow, I am not here to become all sappy on you guys. This is suppose to be a happy post!!!
I am a mother, thus I am "Super Woman"...
Some days are certainly made to seem and feel that way.
We seem to have all the weight of the world sitting on our shoulders.
Consequently making us turn into "Super Woman"! We put on our pink and violet cape and go on conquering the world... The baby world that is!

As you all know from my previous post The First Birthday Blues, it was my son's first birthday last sunday. I asked a friend of mine to make the cake, which was inspired from the same theme and design as the decorations. She did such an A-MA-ZING job that I really wanted to share the pictures with all of you. Go check out her website http://shannonssweettreats.com/
The big day is right around the corner...
My little's man FIRST birthday.
It's like a bittersweet feeling.
On one hand, the excitement, the thrill, the giddiness of this big milestone. A significant milestone.
And on the other, the wee sadness, the little heartbreak over how time is flying by too fast.

There's a monster coming out of my son's closet.
I have seen this monster around before. And not only in my son's closet.
He seems to enjoy lurking around hampers.
Around here he's called "Laundry". Not a fancy name, but he is not fancy himself, so figures I guess.

Huuummmmm... Checkiiing... Cheeeckiiiing...
Huh, this doesn't look like a diaper... Oh! I think I just found a whisk!!!
Ha! I did! I did! See Mommy the cool things you can find in a diaper box!!!

When it comes to our child's health and well-being, we, as parents, would move heaven and earth just to take them out of their misery. It is unbearable to watch them suffer and not being able to do anything about it.
I don't know how I am feeling or how I should be feeling. An old colleague, roughly the same age as I, beginning 30's, passed away last night. Leaving behind his pregnant wife and 3 year old son, brokenhearted. Their whole world has just been shattered in thousands of pieces. Pieces that will probably never come back together perfectly. Or at all for that
matter.
matter.
Nothing spells Sunday morning like a colorful and flavorful homemade omelette... It warms the tummy and soul. Usually, I throw in whatever vegetables and fresh spices I have left in the fridge. And to obtain that nice soft and fluffy texture, I mix the eggs significantly and add a very very small amount of either milk, cream or water. Some say adding butter instead of liquids will do the trick. I have yet to try it. I will keep you posted though. In the meantime, happy Sunday! :)

Silence. All I hear is silence. Or did my ears become best friends with this now somewhat familiar white noise called a baby monitor? I wonder. I must confess, in the beginning I thought I had suddenly grown bionic ears. I could hear it all! I barely could sleep anymore! I might as well have camped out in my baby's bedroom. But not anymore. Now I am a pro! A veteran! I can sleep through any noise coming from that oh-so-neatly-thought-of gadget. I call it a gadget because let's admit it, the generation before us didn't have them and it all worked out pretty darn fine. So perhaps it is a gadget. Who am I to say?!
He blows me kisses, he claps his hands just like mommy. He loves mommy's lullabies, he bursts into laughter when I sing him a LMFAO song. He plays wrestle with daddy, he plays "licky" with the doggy. He is amazed by mommy's earrings, he is the most curious human being. He brightens my days in ways I couldn't even begin to explain. When I pause the world around me and gaze at him, my eyes fill with the utmost admiration, my heart drowns in the deepest of loves. He can be a handful, he can be noisy. But at the end of the day, he is my son and nothing compares to him. He has taught me to overcome my fears, learn as I grow, enjoy the moment, and most of all, love to the fullest.
My blog is entitled S.O.S. Mom for the sole reason that I want to be helpful to all moms and dads who, like me, have gone through all the rainbow of emotions and questions throughout this journey called motherhood and fatherhood. Motherhood has awaken many things inside my heart, mind and soul and I want to share it all with everyone of you!
