Saturday, April 28, 2012
I was breaking my head looking for ways to introduce you to this special gal... and then I gave up! To tell you truth, there is no way! She's a mommy with spirit. With edge and wit that will grasp your attention right from the get-go. She has charisma and, I must warn you, a touch of bluntness... yet without crossing that offensive line. She tells it how it is. And it's refreshing!

Get Your Children Into Reading... And Enjoying It!

Monday, April 23, 2012
Reading is something considerably important in a child's life and development... in my personal opinion. It unleashes his imagination, awakens his mind to new horizons and challenges him intellectually. Bottom line, books can be a powerful tool for your kiddo. Though it's one thing to read to your child, but what about making him actually enjoy it?! Well, I came up with 10 ideas to make your little angel discover the simple joys of reading.

Author Jess C. Scott - Guest Post With Upcoming Book Review & Giveaway

Sunday, April 22, 2012
The following is a guest post by author Jess C. Scott. Her latest book, The Other Side of Life, tells the story of a thieving duo who’s world turns upside down when an Elven rogue uncovers the heinous dealings of a megacorporation. The genre of this book is a mixed of urban fantasy, cyberpunk and YA with adult crossover appeal. It is recommended for adults or young adults seeking cyberpunk themes (not hardcore sci-fi), and a love story (not fluffy romance).

I will be offering a book review and giveaway from May 15th until May 30th. Write it down in your calendars and make sure you check back in during those dates to get in on the action! All the details will be announced then! In the meantime, you can read Jess C. Scott's guest post and get to know her a little better!

Earth Day, Every Day

Thursday, April 19, 2012
Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat money. ~Cree Indian Proverb

Every year, Earth Day marks the anniversary of the 1970's birth of the environmental movement as we know it today. Earth Day was celebrated for the first time on April 22, 1970, when U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson encouraged students to develop environmental awareness projects in their communities. Mr. Nelson, Senator of Wisconsin, proposed the first major environmental event in U.S. history in an effort to shake the political world and force the insertion of environmental issues within the national political frame. The very first Earth Day led to the creation of the The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the adoption of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts. It is only in 1990, that Earth Day became a global event, mobilizing 200 million people in 141 countries and acting as a lever for global environmental issues. Today, more than 500 million people in 184 countries are taking part, every year, in Earth Day. Over the years, it has become the largest, and with the most participation, eco-friendly event on the planet.

A Mommy Recommendation - David's Tea

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Prior to a few years ago, I utterly disliked tea and coffee. Not to be playing on words here, but they were definitely not my cup of tea! I thought coffee tasted quite nasty and I thought tea was a fancy drink for the over 60-year-olds... no offence! This all changed when I met my boyfriend... aaaahhh the wonderful things love will make you do! And that's where my love story with tea began. I started off with the basic, usual stuff, Tetley's Orange Pekoe. The good old-fashionned tea. And then, a year ago or so, my parents got us a gift. A nice arrangement from David's Tea. Back then, I was somewhat familiar with the company, yet I didn't really know what they were all about.

"The Sewing Granny", A Shop Worth Visiting

I always though that handmade baby items were the greatest. They are just so gorgeous and one of a kind. Same for household items and apparel. I love it when I know I have a piece made really to my liking and personal style... it spells uniqueness. Now that's where my friend Mona comes in. And where I come in to talk to you about her wonderful store called The Sewing Granny. She dedicates herself into making handmade baby items, hand quilted quilts, placemats, potholders and infinity scarves. I could go on and on about her business but I'll let her tell you all about herself and her shop through this interview I had with her.

A Mommy Treat - Homemade Juices

Sunday, April 15, 2012
We all want what's best for ourself and our family. And usually that starts with the food we , prepare, serve and eat. Let's be honest with each other here, with our often-times hectic schedules, we don't always have time to whip up a fabulously healthy meal... which makes us rely on those quick solutions, which aren't always the best or healthiest out there. That's why I always believed that the answer rests in the simpleness. Healthy doesn't need to rhyme with complicated.

Child Boredom

Saturday, April 14, 2012

Many children get bored when they have no other kids or adults to play with. It's just normal. You probably have recollections of, when you were younger, those rainy days that seemed endless, or those family visits where it was all about long dialogues between grownups. Historically, children have all experienced boredom at one point or another. What has changed is how adults perceive and react to the boredom and the inability for some children to manage it. We live in a society focused on productivity and performance, where efficient use of time is valued. Boredom has a bad press. Not knowing what to do translates into a waste of time. When a child says he's bored, we try at all costs to keep him occupied, to find him a jillion interesting activities to do.

Avoiding A Mommy Breakdown

Thursday, April 12, 2012
A baby whose needs are greater than the average is often called "child with intense emotions", which translates into more colics, more tears, more sensitiveness to his surroundings and to any sort of change.

Probably not to your own liking, a baby with such needs can bring a significant amount of stress on his surroundings, such as his siblings and other family members. A mom who is constantly stressed out is at risk of a burnout and may even get to a point where she may try to avoid caring for this child who gives her the (false) impression that she's a bad mother.

Beneficial Arts & Crafts For Your Tots

Monday, April 9, 2012
More than just a way to kill time during the afternoon, arts and crafts are beneficial to the developing brain of young children, because besides being fun, they help develop fine motor skills and improve mathematical, reading and socializing skills. The skills that children develop during these creative experiences not only play a role in their overall development, they encourage creative exploration and playfulness, together with bringing great benefit to the parent-child relationship as you share these creative moments with your toddler.

A Mommy Recommendation - Boiron Products

Thursday, April 5, 2012

We're human, hence, we all eventually catch a virus, some more frequently than others. It's bound to happen. Pretty inevitable. And no matter what it is, our initial instinct is to cure it, make it better. Let's face it, feeling under the weather is far from fun. Living it up, in bed, indulging in pure laziness, doing purely nothing... aaaahhh... of course, just a thought, let's pop that bubble and come back down to Earth! So, since we remain on the go, living our hectic lives despite the fact that we are indisposed, we usually need a little help to, at least, keep our head on straight.

Demystifying Common Food Myths

We've all heard rumours, myths, urban legends or even old-wives' tails regarding food beliefs, either going around on the internet or in everyday conversations. I don't know if you're like me, but I personally never know what to believe! Some sound so credible, it just makes it harder to sort fact from fiction. Well, much to my surprise, the next ten legends are all false... despite what you may have heard in the past!
